The Sigi Information Center Located at the base of the Nature
Reserve and housed
in the refurbished Stationmaster's House at Sigi - built before 1914
in the German period - the recently opened Information Centre offers
a fine introduction to this very special reserve.
Growing, developing and changing
exhibits offer insights into the rich biodiversity, history and
culture of this area that is internationally recognized for its wide
range of indigenous and endemic species. The techniques and efforts
being employed to conserve this precious resource for future
generations are also recorded.
The center is open every day and there is no charge for entry.
What better way to start your visit to Tanzania's first nature
reserve?
The
Sigi Resthouse The rest house, as seen on
the right, has rooms available for roughly US$ 10 per person,
including full board. Each room has either two or three beds with
mosquito nets for each bed, and a private bathroom. In addition, the
ANR provides similar housing further into the reserve.
Experienced local forest guides are available to help seek that
special experience and get the most out of the visit.
