Welcome to Varrio Subarctic Research Station, located in Eastern Lapland, in the northern corner of the municipality of Salla. The station represents top scientific research of the University of Helsinki, the highest standards of education and co-operation with civil society in Northeastern Finland. Since 2004, Varrio Subarctic Research Station has worked together with the University of Oulu's Oulanka Research Station and both of the research units now share offices in the city of Kuusamo.
